Founding of Seitz Strength Systems

Seitz strength systems was founded by Leo John Seitz III in the summer of the mid 1980’s for high school football athletes around the San Antonio area to prepare and get in shape for their upcoming football seasons. These athletes from all across South Texas came and saw the results. Coach Seitz has spent many years strength coaching. He spent time as a strength coach on the New England Patriots football staff from 1985-1989. He has also trained different athletes all over the country, such as Heisman trophy-winning quarterback, Ty Detmer. Leo was born on July 22, 1944, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Coach Seitz was a stellar athlete. He began his athletic career at Ball State University as an offensive guard from 1962-65. Leo was a four-year starter and earned a spot on the All-Conference team his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. He also earned a spot on the All-Time college football team roster. In 2014, Leo was inducted into the Ball State Athletic Hall of Fame. Coach Seitz played professional football primarily for the San Antonio Toros from 1968-1971. Playing as an offensive lineman at 5′ 10, 225 pounds was not easy, and that’s where strength came into play. Leo had to be strong and aggressive, mentally and physically. Following a football career, Leo Seitz started an 11-year professional wresting career in what is now known as the WWE. Performing characters as himself, Leo Seitz, and The Destroyer. Leo was so good at wrestling; he was requested to play in Jackie Chan’s movie, “The Big Brawl” as a gangster and wrestler. Following his stellar careers, Leo still lifts weights and trains today, healthy at the age of 77. Leo holds Texas state powerlifting records as well. In his later years, Leo spent many years training with his close friend, and legendary strength coach/athlete, Tommy Suggs. Tommy Suggs is a famous Olympic weightlifter, editor of the “Strength and Health magazine, and the first strength coach in the NFL. To this day Seitz Strength Systems is dedicated to working with athletes and other individuals looking to improve strength, speed, conditioning, mobility, flexibility, and most importantly quality of life.
